He’s flying!
A lawyer is having an affair with a manly woman who is his boss when they are having a good time, while his wife flirts with their young stalker of a neighbor. Together, they have a son who can’t get over the fact that he is adopted. The lawyer’s father is dying, and he is drinking too much alcohol. One night, while driving home with his lover, the lawyer encounters a drunk and repulsive postman who nearly dies on his scooter. This incident marks the beginning of a real nightmare for the lawyer.
I did not expect “A Good Lawyer’s Wife” to have such a light and playful tone. I anticipated a dry and serious movie about a dysfunctional family drifting apart. However, the atmosphere and tone are very light, and I loved the scenes between the mother and her son. The boy is so cute when he asks his mother why she told him he was adopted, as it has ruined his life. Their chemistry is genuine and heartwarming.
But then, something happened that I never saw coming. Usually, I am used to shocking scenes that you don’t expect but I was in shock after what happens in this movie! It was cruel and somewhat unnecessary, and how it unfolded was simply wild. If this were a Takashi Miike movie, such a twist wouldn’t be surprising, but “A Good Lawyer’s Wife” is not that kind of movie! It’s so cruel, and you will hate the postmen of the world forever after watching A Good Lawyer’s Wife! To hell with all postmen of the world!
The two leading actors are fantastic in their roles, and I also enjoyed the few brief scenes with the young actor portraying their son. Towards the end, there is a disturbing scene where the wife and the neighbor are having a good time. I must admit that this scene is quite off-putting, but that’s why I also love South Korean movies. However, it serves as an important moment for the character to move forward and break free from being stuck in the past. She is a naughty woman. Oh yeah, and I’m a naughty man! Give me a call woman, because I love the movie Alien! And I’m not a pervert like the young man who is following you around like a creepy stalker. Come to Uncle Sleepy!
“A Good Lawyer’s Wife” is an adult-oriented movie that showcases how a married couple drifts apart. The only common ground they share is their son, not the love they once had for each other. It’s not a movie I would watch again, but the shocking surprise it offers will undoubtedly stay with me.
