A man meets a woman on a dating app, and he falls in love with her. But a problem arises when she just disappears, and it seems like she has taken her own life. With the help of his cousin, who’s a computer expert, he tries to find her, which will lead to problems.
C U Soon is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. This is the man behind Take Off (2017) and Malik (2021). In the lead role, we find Fahadh Faasil. He has become one of my favorite Indian actors. He shows in C U Soon that he can carry a movie on his shoulders almost alone. But he gets help from our skilled director and a tight and engaging script.
This is a small movie where the characters communicate over the Internet and phones. In the last couple of years, there have been made some horror movies where the characters just communicate over the Internet and phones. But this isn’t a horror movie. This is a movie about a man who tries to find out who this woman is, and he’s a computer expert. So he tries to help his cousin, who is a little helpless and in love. He wants to marry this woman. But who is she? Has she tricked him, or is her life in danger?
I will not spoil anything in this review. But this is an interesting movie where the storytelling is in the driver’s seat, and you can see here that the director is very skilled when he makes a movie like this with a protagonist who’s confined to his home where he tries to solve the case.
If you appreciate great storytelling in a small universe and a fantastic actor, then C U Soon is a movie you should watch. It’s a suspenseful movie, and it’s a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat because you don’t quite know what’s going on. I had several theories about this woman, so this is a movie that keeps you engaged and awake. And it’s hard to keep the sleepy, creepy, pervert guy awake! So that’s a quality sign!
