Chasing (2016) – English Review

Two former friends have to work together one night. One of them is a successful criminal, while the other is a cop. Some students have stolen a cellphone belonging to the gangster. They have also stolen the gun from the cop. Will this night make the two former friends bond again?

I didn’t have high expectations for Chasing, but I have to say that the movie was entertaining. The story is simple, and the movie does a lot of things right until it remains around 15 minutes.

Then, unfortunately, the movie serves us some bad melodrama and a surprising showdown that takes place in the gangster’s office. This scene doesn’t work at all. Suddenly a new villain just shows up, and this villain has had very little screen time. This just felt forced. Chasing is a silly entertainment movie, it’s nothing more than that. Thankfully, it’s entertaining.

The movie also has some fight scenes, and I have to say I was impressed with the fight taking place on a bus. The gangster meets and beats up an entire baseball team. The choreography is great, but I don’t know that much about the actor playing the gangster. But he’s an older version of Steven Seagal where he breaks arms and dislocates joints on villains who tries to beat him up. He’s a real fighter, this old gangster!

If you are looking for a light and entertaining action-comedy where the story takes place at night, then this is a movie that’s definitely worth watching. It’s a charming movie, and I liked the small universe. And I especially fell for the baseball players who think they are some hard men. I love this kind of comedy!
