Dark Figure of Crime (2018) – English Review

Is he telling the truth?

A policeman arrests a person he gets obsessed with. The man he arrested murdered a woman. After a while, this killer contacts the cop. He tells the policeman that he has killed several people, and he gives some hints to the policeman who’s trying to find the bodies. But there is something that isn’t right in this case.

Dark Figure of Crime is a decent crime movie that lacks something important in my eyes. And that’s energy and drama. But the pace is slow, maybe too slow for someone.

The movie focuses on the psychological game between the killer and the policeman who doesn’t quite know what to believe when the killer tells him about all the people he has killed over the years. Has he done it, or is he a liar? The policeman believes that this is an actual killer, but a killer who doesn’t have complete control over everything he says and tells.

There isn’t much depth to find here. The policeman has no life outside of work. We follow him when he’s working, that’s all. We get to see some of the killer’s past, but this isn’t a movie that focuses on the inner life of the characters. It’s a psychological game, but I missed more energy and drama. There isn’t much in the movie I found engaging. I’m thinking especially of the characters we meet and follow. I like to follow characters that invite us into their minds.
