This is a movie that burns slowly, and the atmosphere is dirty and dark. Incest is of course not fun to watch, and as a viewer, you will feel dirty after watching this movie.
I can say it like this, this is not a movie I will ever watch again. You don’t care about the central characters in this universe, they are both sick in the head. After a while, there is one event that happens, and the stepfather and the girl must leave town. The girl has a secret, and I love what happens with a person who saw something that he shouldn’t have seen. It’s a stupid scene, and it doesn’t belong in a movie like this, but it’s so funny and tragic. Float away, old man, float away!
The actors are really good. Tadanobu Asano is my favorite actor from Japan. And the lovely Fumi Nikaidô is the one to watch out for because she has been impressive in her last films. She can make it to the stars. I love that she takes chances, and you can tell that she is growing as an actress. She’s a chameleon in disguise, she can be insecure and humble, and suddenly she can be a total psycho. I love this actress!
My Man is a well-acted movie that burns slowly. My Man is not a movie for everyone, there is incest, murders and the pace is slow. But if you like dark and dirty crime movies, My Man is worth a watch.
