A lifetime experience.
One Cut of the Dead is a movie many people have talked about. I didn’t quite know what to expect, but I thought it would be a regular zombie movie. In the rest of the review, I will reveal a lot of the plot. So I have warned you!
You can divide One Cut of the Dead into two halves. The first half is the weakest where we see a regular low-budget movie where someone shoots a zombie movie. But then suddenly actual zombies show up. This isn’t fun to watch, but then the movie changes completely when the truth is revealed.
Because in the second half we see the shooting of the movie. We see everything that’s going on behind the cameras. There are several comedic situations when the director has decided to shoot the movie with just one take. And as we know, it’s very difficult to do that. What was boring in the first half becomes much more engaging and funny when we see what was going on in the background during the shooting of the movie.
The point is that the director and his family tries to create something that they have always wanted to create. But it’s difficult when they don’t have a bigger budget to work with. But they don’t give up. And with clever people around them who do their best no matter how difficult things become, they create an experience that they will always remember with a big smile.
Then you see that even if you don’t make a good movie, those who work with the movie, experience great joy in that they give everything they got to make it work. And even if what they create doesn’t become perfect, they have done something as a group. They can be proud of their accomplishments. And they can also use what they have experienced and learned in future projects. The most important thing is that they had fun when working together as a team!
