We’re not supposed to be friends, you and me. We’re meant to be enemies. Did you know that?

Ideen er god i The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, gjennomførelsen står ikke helt i stil. Jeg husker ikke hvor smart jeg var når jeg var åtte år gammel, men jeg innbiller meg at jeg var smartere enn guttungen Bruno som enten er uskyldigheten selv eller stokk dum. Asa Butterfield som spiller Bruno er heller ikke mye til skuespiller. Vera Farmiga og David Thewlis leverer solide rolletolkninger, resten av gjengen er ikke mye å skryte av.

Jeg fikk aldri følelsen av at Bruno og Shmuel hadde noe kjemi. Det er mye som mangler her, det hele blir så tørt og kunstig, følelsen av at det her er ekte er ikke til stede. Først på slutten ble det spennende, for det kunne nesten virke som om Shmuel hadde en plan som hadde vært genial, men slik gikk det ikke. Slutten er fin, ikke noe tvil om det.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas mangler for mye i alle ledd til at dette er en film som vekker følelser i meg.
